NGC 7635

NGC 7635

NGC 7635, commonly known as the Bubble Nebula, Sharpless 162, or Caldwell 11, is an H II region emission nebula located in the constellation Cassiopeia. It is situated near the open cluster Messier 52. The nebula's characteristic "bubble" shape is formed by the stellar wind from a massive, hot central star, SAO 20575 (BD+60°2522), which has an apparent magnitude of 8.7. This nebula is adjacent to a giant molecular cloud that both contains and is illuminated by the expanding bubble, causing it to emit a glowing light. William Herschel discovered the Bubble Nebula in November 1787. The central star, BD+60°2522, is estimated to have a mass of about 44 times that of the Sun (44 M☉)..
