The Eagle Nebula, designated Messier 16 (M16) and NGC 6611, is also recognized as the Star Queen Nebula. Located in the constellation Serpens, it is a youthful open cluster of stars first identified by Jean-Philippe de Cheseaux between 1745 and 1746. The names "Eagle" and "Star Queen" stem from the evocative image of a dark shape near the nebula's core, famously captured in the Hubble Space Telescope's iconic "Pillars of Creation" photograph. This nebula is home to multiple active regions of star formation within its clouds of gas and dust, prominently featuring the Pillars of Creation. Situated in the Sagittarius Arm of the Milky Way galaxy, the Eagle Nebula offers a vivid glimpse into ongoing celestial birth and evolution.
